National Action Day against Bullying and Violence will be held Friday, 18 March.
National Action Day is Australia’s key anti-bullying event for schools. It encourages students to ‘take a stand together‘ against bullying and violence in schools, the classroom and beyond.
A huge media campaign is hosted by Ian Thorpe, Olympic hero.

What am I, Karen Tyrrell author doing for bully prevention?
I’m a Brisbane award winning author of empowering children’s book STOP the Bully, experienced teacher, a public speaker and resilience presenter.
My books Bailey Beats the Blah, STOP the Bully, Harry Helps Grandpa Remember and Jo-Kin Battles the It show children how to live strong, be resilient, and cope with life stress.
STOP the Bully addresses bully prevention skills, self-esteem, confidence and social skill development. It is endorsed by Kids Helpline and aligned with Kids Matter school curriculum.
Dressed in my taekwondo suit, I talk to Brisbane Primary and High Schools as an advocate for anti-bullying.
Last week, I proudly presented a Bully Prevention talk to 400 Marsden High School children based on my lived experience as a survivor of bullying. I shared my book STOP the Bully, bully prevention, cyber bullying and coping skills. The next day I spoke to parents informing them about bully prevention strategies.
My talks are entertaining and informative and resonate with children.

Bethania built a “Buddy Bench” where lonely and bullied kids go to find friendship and support.
