Did you know that trying to be happier really works? Scientific research found that if you change your motivational mindset, you can improve your well-being drastically.

Good news! Happiness starts with simple changes to your thinking and to your healthy life habits.

First, you must decide you want to be happy and take ownership of how you feel. Practice being happy until it becomes a daily habit. You will start to feel more relaxed, more spiritually and emotionally attuned and more at peace with yourself and with others.

  1.  Define what happiness really means for you. It means different things to different people. Having clarity around this is vitally important so you know what you’re specifically working towards.
  2. Tell yourself you’re going to be happy. Fill your head with positive self-talk. Fake it until you make it. Wake up expecting to be happy. Smile every day.
  3. Live in the here and now. Be mindful of what’s around you and be self-aware. Don’t live in the past or the future. Savour every precious moment. Be grateful for everything in your life. Experience life through your five senses.
  4. Exercise! Exercise! Exercise! Start your day moving your body. Walk, swim, stretch, dance or peddle. Tap into those feel-good hormones, endorphins and serotonins to experience a natural high.
  5. When you spend on yourself, choose experiences over stuff and things. Take a road trip with friends. Live real-life experiences with real people you care about.
